Welcome to the new Lotteries Council Website

Member Support

The Lotteries Council represents Society Lotteries in many diverse sectors. These include:

  • Cricket Clubs
  • External Lottery Managers
  • Football Clubs
  • Hospices
  • Hospital Trusts
  • Major Charities
  • Political Parties
  • Rugby Union and League Clubs
  • Small Charities

Within each sector we have members and Board members who have many years experience in the promotion and administration of successful lotteries.

One of the key strengths of our organisation is the support these "MENTORS" can give to both people coming into the lottery world for the first time and also those who want advice and inspiration on how to grow their existing lottery. Join the Council and get the support you need.

As part of the membership fee each Council member has access to the very best in LEGAL ADVICE from Farrer & Co - experts in the field of fundraising for good causes. Membership allows one telephone consultation per annum with our legal advisor from Farrer's.

To allow our members compliance with the social responsibility clauses in the 2005 Gambling Act, the Council has contributed on their behalf to the Responsibility in Gambling Trust( RIGT). Members are thus able to display the RIGT donors logo on their websites and stationery

The 2005 Act also requires Societies to have documented POLICIES AND PROCEDURES to show how they are ensuring compliance with Act. Compliance visits will take place from the Gambling Commission. The LC provides guidance and templates for Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice on areas including protection of children and the vulnerable to help members achieve best practice.
